Hiatus
I didn’t write the end of last week because it was particularly busy days the second half. I had an appointment with the doctor that put in the feeding tube, as it had begun to smell badly and looked like it might break. The doctor said that they don’t make the tube anymore and that the only option now was to change it for another tube that goes directly to my stomach (it used to go to my intestine to avoid reflux problems). We also considered removing the colostomy, but first a specialist has to check whether my sphincter muscles work (since they have not been used for long, it seems unlikely).
On Wednesday morning my deglution therapist picked me up and we went out to a café for breakfast. One of my other therapists joined and I had half an hibiscus and half a chocolate concha. And, a cup of coffee, which I didn’t finish but had a good portion of. We all wanted hibiscus, but there weren’t enough of them, so that’s why we shared that last one. It was good fun.
On Friday during physical therapy we went to the park nearby and I walked a fair bit (for my standards), so in the afternoon my legs were hurting a bit, completely normal given the exercise I had done. It really wasn’t much, but any extra effort really affects me.
My mom is coming out of the hospital tomorrow, as the infections she had are finally under control. She still doesn’t know if she’ll take the chemotherapy as first she has to chat with her oncologist and see what her options are, but at least now she’ll be home. I went to visit her yesterday and she’s looking much better than last week. At least now she’s able to eat without any pain and she even had some snacks while I was there.
